Sometimes, the road to treatment leads to a refuge for healing, with round-the-clock care and compassionate support for you and your children.
Our residential treatment facility is located at 76 Glen Road in Burlington, Vermont, and can house up to 26 pregnant and/or parenting women.
While there is no official age range for the program, women usually range from age 14 to their mid 30’s. Women who live at Lund are either pregnant or living with their one or two children under age 5.
Our moms have a variety of custody arrangements. Some women are co-parenting, some are working towards being reunified with a child in DCF custody, and others have children who are placed with and supported by family members.
What is it like to live at Lund?
Moms and their children share bright, airy bedrooms at Lund’s residential treatment facility. They are situated in groups of three to six rooms with shared living space, bathrooms, and laundry facilities. Women and their children eat together in a communal dining room, and everyone participates in chores to strengthen daily living skills and to help the kitchen run smoothly.
The facility is staffed 24 hours a day so that moms can access therapeutic and parenting support and respite from our counselors. All residents participate in parenting education, and have access to Lund’s other family support and education services. Children are screened for developmental issues and referred to appropriate services as necessary. Medical staff is available on site.
Transitioning back to independence
Women are supported in their transition from the program long before their intended departure dates, though the work of our case managers, clinicians, family educators, medical team, Reach Up staff, and family engagement specialists. Our goal is that families leave our facility well connected to necessary resources in the community as well as their natural supports, with a stable and strong grounding in parenting — and in their recovery.
