The Adoption Department held the 20th annual Adoption Picnic in September to celebrate families joined by adoption and guardianship. Despite the intense heat, over 500 people came to feast on the famous giant potluck, jump in bounce houses, ride ponies, scale climbing walls, play lawn games, take family photos, get faces painted, be wowed by circus performers, and most importantly, see old and new friends in the Lund adoption family. It is a very important event for for Lund families with some people even planning their fall schedule around the weekend of the picnic!
This year’s picnic featured storytelling by Duncan McDougall from the Children’s Literacy Foundation for the first time. All children in attendance were invited to take home two brand new books. Many could be seen later on reading and enjoying a moment in the shade. Lund’s Adoption Administrator, Toni Yandow spearheads this event every year with determined leadership and meticulous organization. Thank you to Lund staff, board members and the community volunteers who came to help out and celebrate with us.
