Best of all our virtual Cornhole Tournament will allow for even more community members to join us as we work together in building strong families and a stronger Vermont community. Different Ways to Play:
Option 1: In Your Backyard
If you have a set of Cornhole Boards and a family of 2 or more you may set up teams and compete against each other using the American Cornhole Association Rules. https://www.playcornhole.org/pages/rules
Send in your scores to JulieR@lundvt.org and you will be entered in a drawing for a set of Lund Cornhole Boards and bags (must be able to pick up the Boards in Burlington, VT)
If you do not have a set of Cornhole Boards you may purchase a set through Lund (while supplies last) for $100 OR make your own with creative materials! See Competition # 2 rules and send us a photo!
Option 2: Ghost Cornhole
Ghost Cornhole is a single player game in which a Cornhole player plays against the “Ghost”. A Cornhole player picks a Cornhole ghost level from 1 to 11 where 1 is the easiest and 11 is the most difficult. When a player chooses a Cornhole ghost level of 8, this means that every round of throwing, the Cornhole ghost will always score 8 points.
The Cornhole player throws 4 bags per round. If the Cornhole player makes 3 bags in the hole, and leaves 1 bag on the board, the Cornhole player would make 10 points but will receive only 2 points total that round (10 points from player minus 8 points from the ghost equals 2 points for the player). The next round, if the Cornhole player only lands 4 bags on the board, the Cornhole player will make 4 points and will not receive any points that round. Instead the ghost will receive 4 points that round (4 points from the player minus 8 points from the ghost equals 4 points for the ghost). See link below:
Send in your scores to JulieR@lundvt.org and you will be entered in a drawing for a set of Lund Cornhole Boards and bags (must be able to pick up the Boards in Burlington, VT)
Option 3: Neighborhood Competition
If you have a set of Cornhole Boards and have been physically distancing with your neighbors/friends, set up teams and compete against each other using the American Cornhole Association Rules. See link below. Keep safe by wearing masks AND physical distance.

Send in your scores to JulieR@lundvt.org and you will be entered in a drawing for a set of Lund Cornhole Boards and bags (must be able to pick up the Boards in Burlington, VT)
Option 4: Competitive Play
We know there are some real competitive people out there!!! Here is a way to play for a set of Cornhole Boards wrapped with “- 2020 Champs – Pitchin for a Purpose Cornhole Tournament:”
The competitive option (double elimination) will be for teams of TWO competing for the grand prize, a set of cornhole boards branded with the ‘Pitchin for a Purpose’ logo. Teams will need to Facebook Live their rounds and tag Lund’s FB page @LundVT. If you do not have a Facebook account, still record your round and email it to julier@lundvt.org with a subject line of “Competitive Play Score.”
Here is how a virtual matchup will work:
- Teams A and B will get notified by text message that they are now ready to play each other.
- Players will need to have a set of boards set up 27 feet apart.
- Both people on each team will throw a deca-round apiece. A deca-round is throwing 4 bags to one of the boards and adding up your score. If you get two in the hole and two on the board, that is 8 total points. That is round 1. Keep doing this until you’ve done 10 rounds. Your partner will do the same thing. Once you and your partner are done, combine your two scores for your team’s total score. See instruction video: https://photos.app.goo.gl/Cb6gaxnAiDgAMjzT6
- For example, if Team A scores a total of 120 points and Team B scores a total of 135 points, team B advances.
- Teams will need to text their scores back and the tournament committee will need to verify the scores in association with the video.
- The tournament will continue in this format until a champion is crowned!
