Experienced non-profit executive to lead impact-driven agency with focus on hope, opportunity, and family
South Burlington – Lund is pleased to announce that Mary Burns will be the agency’s next President and CEO. Burns, an experienced non-profit executive, will join Lund on June 1st.
“We are enthusiastic about Mary and her commitment to the well-being of Vermont families. Mary’s talents and experience align perfectly with our focus on providing the highest quality services for our client families and on stewarding our agency toward a strong future,” said Christine Oliver, Chair of the Board.
Burns was President and CEO of the Greater Burlington YMCA from 2007 – 2015, a role she worked her way up to over 20 years with the organization, beginning as Office Manager. More recently, Mary held leadership positions in other YMCAs in the Northeast. In one of those roles her focus was philanthropy, in another she led childcare services. Highlights of Mary’s leadership of the Great Burlington YMCA included building strong community partnerships, implementing innovative health and wellness programming, and leading and inclusive strategic planning process. Most importantly, Burns’ leadership inspired excellence from individuals and teams.
“I appreciate Lund’s integral role in strengthening Vermont families. I know so many people in our community whose lives have been touched by Lund’s services. I am excited to join Lund’s staff and support their important work,” said Burns.
Lund provides family-based services to over 5,000 Vermonters statewide. Through adoption, treatment, and family services, Lund helps families live healthful, independent, and engaged lives. The agency is emerging from the pandemic in a position of strength, with programs focused on continuous quality improvement, stable finances, and highly qualified and committed staff across the agency.
“All of the tools are in place for a strong next chapter for Lund, and Mary has the skills, temperament, and experience to make good use of them,” said Oliver.
Oliver also thanked outgoing President, Tricia Coates: “Tricia led Lund through significant and important change that strengthened our programs and put the agency on a path of sustainability. We wish her well and are certain she will continue to make a difference for Vermont.”
