Dear Friend of Lund,
As I approach my second anniversary at Lund this June, I am continually inspired by our dedicated staff and the resilience of our clients. This year has highlighted the interconnectedness of our work, showcasing our family-centered approach designed to meet the unique needs of each child and family. Lund’s culture of collaboration supports families throughout their entire journey, helping them overcome obstacles and thrive.
This year, our Outpatient Clinical Treatment Program has worked more closely than ever with our Adoption Programs to provide essential mental health resources to children and caregivers navigating the adoption journey. By integrating these services, we have been able to offer tailored support that addresses the unique emotional and psychological needs of adoptive families. This collaborative approach ensures that children and their caregivers receive comprehensive care, helping them build strong and healthy relationships.
This spring, we launched a new initiative to address the critical shortage in childcare. This pilot program, funded by Building Bright Futures, offers paid training to New Americans in our Early Childhood Education Program. Graduates of this program will be fully qualified to work in early childhood education, impacting the systemic workforce shortage issue while providing additional professional career options for the New American population.
We continue to combat the opioid epidemic, particularly affecting Vermonters during the perinatal period. Our Residential Treatment Program, the only one in Vermont where parents can receive treatment for substance use while living with their children, continues to support pregnant and parenting individuals.
These examples illustrate how Lund is transforming challenges into hope and opportunities. Looking ahead, I’m excited to share that we have begun a strategic planning process. This initiative will evaluate all aspects of Lund, allowing us to enhance and adapt our services as needed and further extend our reach throughout Vermont. This process has engaged staff, stakeholders, and community partners, and we will keep you updated on our progress.
As we celebrate our 134-year history of helping children and families, we are reminded that Lund’s services are more essential than ever. Your support enables transformational change for families and our community.
With gratitude,
Mary Burns
