Once a year, the entire Lund staff gathers together for a day of celebration, reflection, and community. There are over 150 Lund staff members located statewide, working across multiple programs and departments, sometimes working completely opposite shifts. There are people who never see each other or who only know each other by email address. The all staff retreat is an opportunity to break from the work for a day and get together. It must be noted thought that since Lund’s residential program is a 24/7 facility, there are some staff members who stay back to be with moms and kids while other are at the retreat. We all greatly appreciate their team work.
This year the morning session of the retreat featured a wide variety of fun activities led in 20 minute sessions. There was dancing, cornhole, chainmail making, painting, acupressure, competitive game play and more. Later in the day, staff were recognized for their years of service to Lund and the 2018 winners of the Elizabeth Lund Employee of the Year and the Jeff Small Pioneer Award were announced. Stay tuned to later posts to learn more about those fabulous employees.
The day was punctuated by an exciting raffle featuring over 80 prizes donated by Lund’s generous board. It was a fun, celebratory day and a welcome break from the challenging and sometimes heart wrenching work that Lund staff members do the other 364 days of the year.
