Lund’s residential program is the only facility in Vermont where moms can live with their children while engaging in treatment for substance use disorders and mental health challenges while also receiving intense parenting support, case management, and life skills education.
The program capacity is 26 women who are pregnant or parenting up to two children under age 5. Last year, 74 women and their 70 children lived at the residential facility.
Each mom follows an individual treatment plan during the day – attending classes, individual clinical counseling sessions, clinical groups, high school classes, parenting education, medical appointments or whatever is needed to meet her and her child’s physical, social, emotional or treatment goals. The length of stay for each family varies but the average is usually between 5 and 9 months. Other family members including older children, supportive relatives and the fathers of the children can be involved in treatment and programming all with the goal of sustained recovery and healthy parenting after discharge.
