Life in Vermont changed in March 2020. Schools closed, childcares closed, gatherings and events were canceled. People were advised to stay at home and then required to stay at home.
Gloves, facemarks, six feet of distance, remote learning, essential workers; the things we had to think about and the words we used changed.
All of Lund’s programs changed. Some went online or to the phone, some sheltered in place with very limited interaction beyond essential staff. There is no question that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected every aspect of our work. These changes deepen and develop every day.
In an effort to record this experience and keep our staff and supporters connected to each other during this time when many of us are physically distant, Lund has launched a series of audio interviews with staff members about their work, the challenges that they and their clients face, and what we might all be able to learn from this experience.
Hear from Adoption Administrator Toni Yandow about what it is like to be the only employee in a building that is usually full and bustling. Hear from Kiwi Landry, Community Clinician about how hard it is for her clients to find the physical space in their home to engage in counseling. Hear from Residential Counselor, Alexis Dougherty about life at Tom’s Place. Listen to the words and the voices of Lund staff members as they share their very current reality.
