Guest post by Rosann Kramer of Runway Auto
My business partner, Joe Kramer and I were delighted to present Burlington resident Cassie with the keys to a 2010 Nissan Altima last Wednesday. Cassie, a mother of two girls, aged six and four, was selected to receive a newly refurbished vehicle from Runway Auto and GEICO as part of the national Recycled Rides program.
We take reliable transportation for granted but if you do not have it life can get very difficult very quickly. We are proud to give back to the community in which we have made our home by easing this burden for this deserving young mother who has never owned a vehicle.
The Recycled Rides program is a nationwide community service project by the National Auto Body Council in which collision repair companies and insurers collaborate to repair and donate recycled vehicles to families and service organizations in need.
GEICO donated the 2010 Nissan Altima which was refurbished by Runway Auto. Advance Auto Parts, LKQ, Priority Auto and Town Fair Tire also donated parts and labor to refurbish the Nissan.
Cassie was nominated by Lund for the Recycled Rides vehicle because of the difficulties she has everyday just to get her daughters to their schools. She takes the bus for over three hours each day to get her daughters to their respective schools. Lund knew that reliable transportation would make a difference in their everyday lives and the future of their family. Relying on public transportation is time-consuming and stressful. It is also hard for one of Cassie’s daughters to take public transportation because she struggles with developmental challenges that can make being on the bus very overwhelming for her. Having a vehicle means being able to have more time in the morning, and the ability to visit family on the weekends.
Tammy Santamore, the Parent Child Center Coordinator at Lund joined us when we presented the car to Cassie. “It is good to see you in your new car and it is so pretty,” she said. “This will make such a difference.”
Joe and I purchased Runway Auto in South Burlington, near the airport, in August 2014. We have made Vermont our home and enjoy working together to make Collision Repair easy for our customers. Runway Auto’s goal is to deliver high value with the safest repairs to our customers.
We are happy to work with Geico on this important community project. For over 75 years, GEICO’s been providing affordable car insurance with outstanding customer service. They offer insurance for just about anything that moves you. Whether you’re on the road, the trail, or the water they will help customers get the type of insurance they need.
