November is National Adoption Month! Throughout the month, states, communities, public and private organizations, businesses, families, and individuals will celebrate adoption as a positive way to build families. Activities and observances across the nation, such as recognition dinners, public awareness and recruitment campaigns, and special events shed light on children who are in need of permanent families. While all aspects of adoption are celebrated, the particular focus is on adopting children from foster care.
This November, Lund will celebrate the adoption finalizations of 47 children and young people! The majority of these adoptions will be through Project Family – Lund’s award winning collaboration with the Vermont Department for Children and Families which works to find forever families for children in state’s custody who are legally freed for adoption.
This means 47 children will go to bed every night absolutely certain that they have a forever family that will love them and keep them safe. They will know they have someone to turn to for advice when they face a problem at school. Someone will be there with a high five when they swing across all the monkey bars in the playground. 47 children will have the unconditional relationship of a family that everyone deserves to have.
Since Lund started in 1890, we have found forever families and permanent homes for over 10,000 children and teenagers through adoption. That’s definitely something to celebrate this November!
