You may donate all or part of your IRA, 401(k), or other retirement savings plan balance to Lund by naming Lund as a full or partial beneficiary.
If you are interested in providing immediate support to Lund through your retirement assets, we gratefully accept Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) and Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) from your IRA or 401(k).
Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) or IRA Rollover
A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), also known as an IRA rollover, allows IRA owners age 70½ or older to make a gift directly from their IRA to Lund. To qualify, the distribution must be sent directly from your IRA custodian to Lund on your behalf. The annual limit for QCDs is set by the Internal Revenue Code and is adjusted each year. Because each financial institution has its own process, please follow your institution’s instructions to ensure your gift is completed properly and eligible for any applicable tax benefits.
Example:
Joan turned 70½ this year and wanted to make a meaningful difference for Vermont children and families through her IRA. After speaking with her IRA provider, she decided to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) to support Lund and its mission.
Joan chose to contribute the maximum amount allowed through a QCD. She knows her gift will help strengthen Lund’s Parent Child Center and provide critical support to children and families across Vermont.
Because her QCD goes directly from her IRA to Lund, the distribution is not included in her taxable income. As a result, it may help lower her annual income, potentially reducing her Medicare premiums and the amount of her Social Security benefits subject to taxation.
Most importantly, Joan experiences the satisfaction of seeing her generosity create an immediate and lasting impact on the children and families served by Lund.
