Lund is very pleased to announce that NorthCountry Federal Credit Union is returning as the presenting sponsor for the 2nd Annual ‘Pitchin’ for a Purpose’ cornhole tournament which will be held at the Burlington International Airport on Saturday May 11th. NorthCountry CEO Bob Morgan (pictured right with members of Lund’s adoption and child and family programs) came by Lund last week to drop off a check for $15,000 and express his appreciation for the impact of Lund’s work in the community.
NorthCountry employees really embraced the event last year coming up with excellent team names such as the “North Corn-try Chuckers” and making T shirts that replaced the tree in the NorthCountry logo with an ear of corn. We’re all looking forward to what they come up with this year.
“We are really grateful to NorthCountry Federal Credit Union for being the presenting sponsor of the event again this year,” says Julie Richards, Director of the Philanthropy and organizer of the event. “Their extremely generous $15,000 donation will go directly to Lund’s programs that help children thrive all across Vermont. It is very meaningful to us to know that NorthCountry is in our CORNer!”
NorthCountry Federal Credit Union started in 1950, when the employees of General Electric in Burlington organized a credit union where they could lend to and borrow from one another at rates better than those offered by commercial banks. Over time, that little financial cooperative grew into one of Vermont’s largest and most innovative credit unions.
NorthCountry has an unwavering dedication to supporting non-profits that make Vermont a better place to live, work, learn, and play. Employees are provided paid time off to volunteer at their favorite organizations, and they set funds aside each year for college scholarships, community events, and causes ranging from homelessness and disease prevention to hunger and animal welfare. This includes many organizations that Lund partners with.
Tomorrow (4/17/19) NorthCountry is holding their annual meeting which is open to all their members and to the public. Every year they invite inspirational speakers to share a keynote speech about their lives, challenges they have overcome or lessons they have learned from their business or educational journeys. This year’s meeting will feature former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf speaking about his personal struggles with addiction and his mental health. Representatives from Lund are looking forward to attending.
Thank you NorthCountry Federal Credit Union for your ongoing support of Lund and your commitment to improving Vermont’s health, financial security, and community strength. See you on May 11th!
