In September 2016, Lund partnered with the Department for Children and Families on the Quality Improvement Center for Adoption and Guardianship (QIC-AG) Support and Preservation survey project in Vermont. The project goal in Vermont is to identify and understand the strengths of families who are doing well post-permanence and if we are able to identify families who may be struggling to provide support to them earlier in their adoption journey. This is an exciting opportunity for Lund to take part in a nationwide project and help to create lasting systemic changes for families joined through adoption or guardianship.
The QIC-AG has been very busy this year with the National project and designing products and learning opportunities for those interested in learning more about supporting adoption and guardianship. Items of note are: Ask About Adoption Fact Sheets for Teachers, Pediatric Health Providers, and Parents, webinars available to the public, and an ever-growing Intervention and Program catalogue. They are diligently working to highlight the intervention strategies being utilized in the National project in the form of a QIChat (online seminar format where participants receive an overview of the intervention highlighting the adaptation for that site and an opportunity to ask questions).
The Vermont intervention, administration of the Vermont Permanency Survey to families joined by adoption or guardianship, is moving forward. It has now been sent to all Vermont families joined by adoption or guardianship that came to permanence through DCF – Family Services Division. The team also administered the survey to many families joined by adoption privately or international/intercounty placements. Survey results are still being distilled into a report that will be made available to those who are interested.
